I will be introducing companion legislation to Senator Maria Collett’s SB 1126 to cap the cost of epinephrine delivery systems and limit out-of-pocket costs for consumers to $35. This commonsense measure will help ensure that Pennsylvanians can access life-saving medication without facing overwhelming financial barriers.

The cost of epinephrine delivery systems has increased dramatically, far outpacing inflation. Reports show that over the past two decades, prices have risen by 574%, from approximately $90 in 2006 to between $650 and $750 today.

For individuals with severe allergies, immediate access to epinephrine can mean the difference between life and death. Yet the high cost of these medications has forced many families to delay refills, ration doses, or rely on expired devices. Because epinephrine delivery systems generally expire within 12 months and users are often advised to carry multiple doses, maintaining an adequate supply can cost families as much as $2,500 annually.

No Pennsylvanian should have to worry about whether they can afford essential medication during an anaphylactic emergency. By capping out-of-pocket costs at $35, this legislation will make life-saving treatment more affordable and accessible for the individuals and families who depend on it.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation.
