In the near future, we plan to introduce legislation to ensure that public higher education institutions in Pennsylvania provide continued access to education and resources to all students, parents, guardians and personnel regardless of their immigration status. 
 
The Welcoming Campuses law would require that public institutions of higher education establish policies to protect students, their families, and school personnel from ICE enforcement on campus and protect student privacy.
 
This bill is similar to Senate Bill 1125, the Welcoming Schools bill, which would require school districts to implement procedures for responding to immigration enforcement at schools. 
 
The Welcoming Campuses initiative will assist colleges and universities across the Commonwealth in protecting access to education, understanding their rights and responsibilities, and preparing staff to respond appropriately if federal immigration officers arrive on campus.
