Each year, June 12 is celebrated as Women Veterans Day to recognize the signing of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act on June 12, 1948. Although women have served roles in the U.S. military since the Revolutionary War, this important act gave women the right to serve as permanent, regular members of the military.

As of 2023, Pennsylvania is home to nearly 70,000 women veterans, and women are one of the fastest growing veteran demographics. However, women veterans often face unique challenges and may lack ample healthcare, housing, and transitional services. For these reasons, we are introducing a resolution to celebrate Women Veterans Day on June 12, 2026, and to bring attention to the specific needs of women veterans.

Please join us by co-sponsoring this resolution to ensure that our women veterans receive the recognition they have earned.
