Subject:  Expanding the Institutional Assistance Grants Program


Memo:
 
I am introducing legislation to expand eligibility within the Commonwealth’s Institutional Assistance Grants (IAG) program administered by PHEAA.

Currently, the Institutional Assistance Grants program is a $26.5 million annual line-item appropriation distributed to qualifying AICUP institutions based on their share of Pennsylvania State Grant recipients.

My legislation would move the Institutional Assistance Grants program to the Public-School Code and expand the eligibility to students attending community colleges, State System universities, and state-related universities, located within the Commonwealth.
 
This legislation is intended to strengthen affordability and access to higher education in Pennsylvania while supporting institutions that serve Commonwealth students.
