In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation designating a portion of US Route 222 in Richmond and Maidencreek Townships, Berks County, as the Chief Jeffory L. Buck and Assistant Chief Robert R. Shick, Jr. Memorial Highway.
Both Chief Jeffory L. Buck and Assistant Chief Robert R. Shick, Jr. were fatally injured in the line of duty on April 4, 2026, while conducting a missing person search with Walnuttown Fire Company along US Route 222. Both men were residents of Maidencreek Township, Berks County.
Jeffory L. Buck was Chief of Walnuttown Fire Company in Richmond Township, Berks County. He was a Deputy Chief for 20 years prior to becoming Chief in 2017. Jeffory served for 43 years total. Robert R. Shick, Jr. was Assistant Chief of Walnuttown Fire Company. Robert served for more than three decades including multiple years as Assistant Chief. Robert also served for a time with Virginville Fire Company in Richmond Township.
Please consider joining me in cosponsoring this important legislation, honoring the collective service and sacrifice of Chief Jeffory L. Buck and Assistant Chief Robert R. Shick, Jr.
