Recently, Pennsylvanians have been feeling the burden of increasingly high prices at the pump. For the many Pennsylvania residents who rely heavily on their vehicles each day, rising fuel costs place additional strain on already stretched household budgets.

Pennsylvania motorists already pay among the highest state fuel taxes in the nation. That is why I plan to introduce legislation to repeal a Corbett-era provision that authorized a gas tax increase over time. Although this increase was enacted years ago and has now been in effect for nearly a decade, working families continue to deal with the consequences of these high gas taxes every day.

By removing this outdated gas tax increase from statute, we can help ease some of the financial burden felt by Pennsylvanians. At a time when families are already dealing with rising costs for groceries, housing, utilities, and other necessities, government should be looking for ways to reduce financial pressure, not preserve outdated tax increases indefinitely.

I ask that you join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to provide relief for Pennsylvania drivers and protect working families from unnecessarily high fuel costs.
