In the near future, I intend to introduce a resolution designating June 2026 as Gun Violence Awareness Month in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a way to honor victims, support survivors, and renew our collective commitment to building safer communities.

Gun violence remains a pressing public health and safety crisis that touches Pennsylvanians across all walks of life, from our largest cities to our rural towns and suburban neighborhoods. Whether through community violence, domestic incidents, accidental shootings, or the tragic reality of suicide, the impact of these losses leaves a lasting ripple effect on families, first responders, and communities.

By designating June as Gun Violence Awareness Month, Pennsylvania aligns with national efforts – including Wear Orange Day on June 5th – to elevate the conversation surrounding gun safety and honor the memory of those we have lost. This resolution is a symbolic yet powerful declaration that we, as lawmakers, recognize the pain felt by communities across the Commonwealth and stand united in our desire to foster peace, healing, and meaningful solutions.

Please join me in cosponsoring this important resolution.
