In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation providing tow truck operators with safer working conditions by establishing safety parameters for towing combinations in emergency situations.
Currently, towing combinations is permitted only under limited circumstances and on specific roadways. These restrictions can create challenges for tow truck operators who are already working in dangerous roadside conditions.
This issue underscores the risks faced by tow truck operators across Pennsylvania, who are often required to work in hazardous roadside conditions while assisting disabled vehicles, clearing crashes, and helping keep traffic moving safely.
To that end, my legislation would authorize tow truck operators to tow up to two wrecked or disabled vehicles per combination in emergency situations. The authorization highlights that towed combinations must be taken to the most practical place of safety or repair within 75 miles, pairing the authorization with necessary safety parameters.
Please consider joining me in cosponsoring this important legislation, providing tow truck operators with safer working conditions while prioritizing safety for the traveling public.
