In the near future, we plan to introduce legislation that will support military families that are home schooling their children.

On behalf of the U.S. Defense – State Liaison Office, this legislation would make two changes to our Home School Law:
1. Provides a 30-day compliance window to understand and meet new state homeschool requirements without immediately falling into noncompliance.  This will help prevent educational disruption during cross-state transitions and eliminates administrative burdens for military families during relocation.
2.  Makes clear that home schooled students can participate in JROTC in their local school district.  While PA law already allows homeschool interscholastic participation, this language will remove any ambiguity within the Home School Law.

April was recognized as the Month of the Military Child.  This legislation will go a long way toward supporting our military families.
