At a time when communities across our Commonwealth are seeking greater recognition, inclusion, and respect, it is critical that we acknowledge the full breadth of contributions that shape Pennsylvania.

For more than a century, Arab Americans have played a vital role in our Commonwealth—strengthening our economy, enriching our culture, serving in our armed forces, and contributing to every sector of public life. Today, over 180,000 Arab Americans call Pennsylvania home, with growing communities across all regions of the state.

Yet, recognition must go hand in hand with responsibility. Arab Americans continue to face discrimination, bias, and harmful stereotyping that undermine their safety and full participation in society. As lawmakers, we have an obligation not only to celebrate these contributions, but also to affirm our commitment to equity and justice for all.

This legislation designates April as Arab American Heritage Month in Pennsylvania, aligning our Commonwealth with national recognition and providing an opportunity to uplift the history, culture, and contributions of Arab Americans while confronting persistent misconceptions.

Recognizing Arab American Heritage Month is a meaningful step toward ensuring that all Pennsylvanians see themselves reflected in the story of our Commonwealth.

Please join us in co-sponsoring this important legislation to recognize the contributions of Arab Americans and affirm their enduring role in Pennsylvania’s history and future.
