I plan to introduce a resolution designating Monday, November 30, 2026, the Monday after Thanksgiving, as “Pennsylvania Sportsmen’s Day” in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania’s hunters, anglers, boaters and trappers have long been central to our Commonwealth’s outdoor heritage, conservation ethic and way of life.  Through licenses, permits, registrations, fees and related federal excise tax revenues, these sportsmen and women directly support wildlife and fisheries management, habitat conservation, public access, education, enforcement and the sporting traditions enjoyed by generations of Pennsylvanians.

This resolution also recognizes the important role that families, mentors, hunting camps and local communities play in passing along the skills, safety practices, responsibility and respect for the outdoors that define Pennsylvania’s sporting heritage.  For many Pennsylvanians, the Monday after Thanksgiving remains closely tied to deer camp, family traditions, rural communities and small businesses that benefit from hunting, fishing, boating and trapping activity.

Please join me in recognizing Pennsylvania sportsmen for their contributions to conservation, outdoor recreation, small businesses, mentoring younger generations and preserving our Commonwealth’s proud sporting traditions.
