The United States has long been a nation with cultural influences from around the world, and this is seen nowhere better than the cultural impact of Caribbean-Americans. As a culture itself with influences from Europe, Latin America, Africa, Native American tribes, and other groups, Caribbean-Americans are responsible for numerous major contributions to the United States in areas like food, entertainment, government, and the civil rights movement.

Caribbean-Americans in Pennsylvania deserve to have this long history of cultural contributions celebrated, and that is why we are introducing a resolution to recognize June 2026 as “Caribbean-American Heritage Month” in Pennsylvania. This recognition will help educate the public on the different ways in which Caribbean-American culture has influenced our state while providing appreciation to the Caribbean-Americans who support our communities today.

The federal government has continuously celebrated Caribbean-American Heritage Month for nearly two decades, while our state has failed to maintain such recognition. We ask that you join us in showing support for our Caribbean-American population by co-sponsoring this resolution.
