In the near future, I will introduce a resolution recognizing the month of May 2026 as “Older Americans Month” in Pennsylvania.

Our nation has made great strides to support older Americans as they transition into their new phase of life. Since 1963, we have honored their legacies and ongoing contributions through Older Americans Month. In Pennsylvania, during this monthly designation, we recognize the contributions made by older persons and we pay tribute to their accomplishments within our communities.

This year’s theme is “Champion Your Health”, which focuses on prevention, wellness, and personal responsibility as cornerstones of healthy aging. It encourages all of us, and especially seniors, to take an active role in managing health, advocating for yourself, accessing preventive care, and making informed decisions that support independence.

In the spirit of “Older Americans Month”, I encourage everyone to engage in activities that elevate and support seniors across the Commonwealth. Whether it’s creating a forum for older adults to share their stories, organizing a community event inclusive of all ages, or fundraising on behalf of local programs that serve older adults, there are many ways we can celebrate older Pennsylvanians this May and beyond.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution on behalf of older citizens in this Commonwealth.
