In the near future, I will be introducing legislation to allow students to receive medically necessary, but privately paid, therapeutic services in the school setting.

Many students require therapeutic treatment for conditions diagnosed by behavioral, medical or mental health professionals.  This treatment is often best applied in the school setting.  My bill will set the framework for how these essential services can be provided, with protection for both the private pay provider and the school entity.

This framework will include:
  • Access to school premises
  • Coordination of services with the school entity
  • Parental rights
  • Professional standards
  • School entity obligations
  • Dispute resolution process
  • Background checks for private pay providers
  • Establishment of Department guidelines to include best practices and model agreements

Please join me in helping students to receive the medically necessary treatments that they need without requiring them to leave the school setting to receive them.
