"Save Your Tooth Month" is a nationwide public‑health initiative led by the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) to educate individuals about the importance of preserving their natural teeth through proper dental care and timely intervention. Endodontists, who specialize in diagnosing and treating pain inside the tooth—including performing root‑canal treatments—play a vital role in helping patients retain healthy, natural teeth rather than resorting to extraction.
Endodontists, as highly skilled dental specialists, excel in diagnosing and treating tooth pain and infection through life-changing endodontic procedures, they frequently collaborate with general dentists to ensure comprehensive dental care and employ a specialized approach that leads to better health outcomes and swift recovery for patients.
Each year, over 25 million teeth are preserved through endodontic treatments, including 15 million root canal procedures, emphasizing the importance of saving natural teeth for improved appearance and maintaining essential functions such as chewing and speech.
By recognizing Save Your Tooth Month, we can help emphasize the importance of early treatment, accurate diagnosis, and access to specialty care. Promoting education on endodontic treatment can reduce preventable tooth loss, minimize costly dental complications, and improve overall health outcomes for residents across our Commonwealth.
