Travel and tourism are a major part of Pennsylvania’s economy and identity, supporting local businesses, workers, and communities across the Commonwealth. From small-town main streets to major cities, our restaurants, hotels, parks, museums, and historic sites depend on visitors to keep local economies strong. As Pennsylvania prepares to play a central role in the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration, recognizing the importance of tourism is especially timely.

My resolution designates the week of May 3 through 9, 2026, as “National Travel and Tourism Week” in Pennsylvania. It aligns with the national observance led by the U.S. Travel Association and highlights the 2026 theme, “Postmarked: Essential,” which recognizes travel as a key driver of economic growth, workforce stability, and cultural connection.

Recognizing National Travel and Tourism Week reinforces the value of an industry that supports more than 500,000 jobs and generates billions in tax revenue that helps fund public services and infrastructure. It also encourages continued investment in Pennsylvania’s communities, helping both residents and visitors benefit from stronger local economies, preserved history, and expanded opportunities for small businesses.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution recognizing “National Travel and Tourism Week” in Pennsylvania. Supporting this affirms our shared commitment to economic growth, community development, and celebrating Pennsylvania’s important role in welcoming visitors from across the country and around the world.
