The use of innovative physical and digital curriculum is increasingly prevalent and integral to the modern CTE educational landscape. Several states have already adopted measures to modernize their CTE curricula and now it’s Pennsylvania’s turn to lead.
I will be introducing legislation which will amend the Public School Code to establish the CTE Curriculum Modernization Grant Program. This program would provide funding to career and technical centers, school districts and intermediate units (IUs) that offer CTE programs to assist them with modernizing their instructional curriculum with digital or printed platforms, depending on their needs.
The digital curriculum will not replace on-site CTE instructors but will strengthen and supplement CTE instruction with modern instructional resources.
While our state budget provides critical funding for CTE equipment needs, there is no dedicated state funding focused on modern curriculum. While some CTE entities have incorporated digital curriculum and other innovative methods of instruction to students, dynamic teaching tools should be available to all CTE students statewide. My bill is aimed at supporting skill development and career readiness, and I hope you will join me in sponsoring this legislation.
