New parents can face difficult choices when setting budgets for growing families. The first months of a baby’s life require numerous new purchases, many of which remain subject to the sales tax.
As a step toward full exclusion from sales tax, this legislation would provide targeted tax relief for parents by exempting baby car seats, booster seats, formula feeding supplies, and teethers that are purchased for the family’s first child.
The Commonwealth should take the next step in reducing the costs paid by new parents for these absolute necessities for babies.
We look forward to working with you on this important legislation.
