In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation granting motorcyclists the ability to hold the same organized procession rights in Pennsylvania that are given to funeral processions.

My legislation would allow for groups no fewer than 10 motorcyclists to hold organized processions between the hours of 8 a.m. and sunset. Furthermore, a procession must be sponsored by a corporation or nonprofit organization and be conducted for a memorial or charitable purpose. At least 10% of the total drivers in the procession must wear a class 2 or higher yellow reflective vest approved by the American National Standards Institute.

This legislation would support charitable and memorial motorcycle processions such as veteran tributes, first responder rides, or educational fundraisers. Allowing motorcycle processions to have the same rights as funeral processions will allow us to set clear rules for processions to reduce accidents and conflicts, and enhance safety measures surrounding processions.

I hope you will consider co-sponsoring this important legislation to give motorcyclists freedom of choice in holding organized processions.
