Firefighting is a dangerous line of work, and the cost of new equipment keeps rising making it even harder for fire departments across the state to afford new equipment to keep their firefighters safe while protecting us.

That is why I am proposing legislation to make firefighting equipment exempt from Pennsylvania’s 6% sales and use tax.  This might not make a massive difference in the cost of new “Jaws of Life” rescue equipment, turnout gear or hand tools, but every little bit helps our struggling fire companies.  This will help all Fire Companies to focus on keeping their members properly equipped and safe while serving the residents and visitors of the Commonwealth.

Please join me in sponsoring this important legislation.
