While every family is facing higher costs for basic purchases, new and growing families are faced with the unique financial strain of making a series of purchases for babies and growing children. As part of an effort to extend full tax relief to these families, I am preparing to offer legislation to enact a one-time, six-month sales tax holiday for certain purchases that can pose a particular financial strain.

DOCUMENT 1: A sales tax holiday for baby furniture, crib mattresses, and strollers
This proposal would provide tax relief for baby furniture, such as cribs and highchairs. Further, the sales tax holiday would extend to strollers, crib mattresses, and strollers.

DOCUMENT 2: A sales tax holiday for children’s toys, musical instruments, and children’s books

This proposal would enact a six-month sales tax holiday for children’s toys, instruments, and children’s books.
