We will be introducing a resolution in the near future recognizing the week of May 10 through May 16, 2026, as "National Hospital Week" in Pennsylvania.

Hospitals play a vital role in delivering health care services to all people of this Commonwealth.  They also provide many services to their communities and are a key element in Pennsylvania's economy.  Whether it is acute inpatient, outpatient, emergency, rehabilitation, behavioral health, or other care, our hospitals in Pennsylvania serve a vital mission.

In fiscal year 2023 alone, hospitals in this Commonwealth provided approximately 1.5 million instances of in-patient treatment and approximately 5.5 million instances of emergency department care.  This Commonwealth has 123 teaching hospitals, 56 trauma centers, and is home to 29 hospitals that are recognized with the prestigious “Magnet” designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.  Furthermore, hospitals are the largest employer in 22 counties in this Commonwealth and are among the top 10 employers in 35 additional counties, thereby accounting for 1 in 9 jobs across this Commonwealth.

Please consider joining us in celebrating the contributions of hospitals and their employees by recognizing the week of May 10 through May 16, 2026, as "National Hospital Week" in Pennsylvania.

Thank you for your interest and support.
