Canada is consistently one of Pennsylvania’s largest trading partners, supporting thousands of jobs across our Commonwealth. From advanced manufacturing and agriculture to energy and life sciences, our economies are deeply interconnected through cross-border supply chains that drive growth and innovation.
As such, I am pleased to introduce a resolution recognizing and celebrating the strong and enduring relationship between the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Canada.
Pennsylvania’s role within the Great Lakes–St. Lawrence economic region further underscores the importance of this relationship. Through our shared access to Lake Erie and participation in one of the world’s largest integrated economic zones, Pennsylvania and Canadian provinces collaborate on transportation, energy reliability, environmental stewardship and economic development.
Beyond economics, our partnership is strengthened by academic exchange, workforce development initiatives and longstanding cultural ties that foster mutual understanding between our communities. Organizations such as the Council of State Governments Eastern Regional Conference and its Canada–United States Relations Committee continue to play a vital role in strengthening these connections.
This resolution reaffirms Pennsylvania’s commitment to maintaining and expanding our partnerships with Canada, recognizing that continued collaboration is essential to addressing shared challenges and advancing regional prosperity.
I respectfully ask for your support in co-sponsoring this resolution.
