Please join us in co-sponsoring legislation to ensure that student tuition and taxpayer dollars are not used to compensate college athletes.

In recent years, the landscape of college athletics has changed dramatically, culminating in the recent approval for colleges to pay athletes directly. While these developments reflect progress for student-athletes, it is critical that we establish safeguards to protect students and taxpayers from bearing these costs.

Our legislation will prohibit the use of student tuition, student fees, state grants, or appropriations from the Commonwealth to compensate college athletes. This measure does not restrict the rights of student-athletes; rather, it ensures that taxpayer dollars are spent on their intended use and financial resources remain focused on academics and offsetting student debt.

By supporting this legislation, we can uphold fairness, protect students and faculty, and maintain the integrity of public funds.
