Please join me in urging Congress to ban insider stock trading and participation in prediction markets.
Public officials should not be able to make money off non-public information provided to them in service of their elected position. News that members of Congress and the Cabinet are
trading specific stocks ahead votes and even potentially
waging bets ahead of military strikes in foreign countries is disturbing to learn.
These “rules for thee, not for me” actions undermine every public servant who works in good faith for the public good. Insider trading is not allowed anywhere else and yet no enforced ban on insider stock trading or prediction markets exists for our country’s highest elected and appointed leaders.
This is a hugely bi-partisan issue. Eighty-six percent of the voting public support banning members of Congress from trading stocks.
Please join me in urging Congress to pass legislation that prohibits Congress, the President, the Vice President, and the Presidential Cabinet from purchasing, selling or holding covered investments and from trading or betting on information they receive in their public role.
