In the near future, we plan to introduce a resolution designating the week of March 16-20, 2026, as "Pennsylvania Ag Literacy Week" and congratulating Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau.

The Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation was created in 1986, and their mission is to preserve and promote agriculture, the Commonwealth's largest industry. Agricultural education not only teaches students about agriculture, but they also learn about food and natural resources. Through these subjects, agricultural educators teach students a wide variety of skills, including science, math, communications, leadership, management and technology.

Creating educational programs for children who may not have much exposure to the agriculture community is important, not least because agriculture generates employment and economic activity on over 50,000 farms, accounting for a $135.7 billion annual economic impact.

We hope you will join us in co-sponsoring this resolution to recognize the importance of educating our youth on all aspects of agriculture.
