In the near future, I plan to reintroduce legislation that is aimed at protecting elderly or vulnerable customers from potentially predatory sales tactics that are sometimes utilized by certain retail natural gas and electric suppliers.

This legislation would amend the Public Utility Code by requiring electric and natural gas distribution companies to maintain a “Do Not Switch List” of accounts.  This list will ensure that only an account holder, or their designated POA, has the authority to choose a different energy supplier.   This measure would be implemented with oversight by the Public Utility Commission and would help ensure that overly aggressive sales tactics and unauthorized supplier switches are not perpetrated against Pennsylvanians.
