In the near future, we will introduce legislation to establish proper safeguards for the Department of Aging and Pennsylvania’s 52 Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs).
 
The Department of Aging recently launched its new performance monitoring system, CAPE. However, alongside this rollout, the department quietly relaxed compliance measures. This flawed system creates a misleading impression of improvement, even as serious concerns remain about how abuse and neglect are addressed.
 
Our legislation will implement essential safeguards to protect older Pennsylvanians and guarantee that the Department of Aging provides real oversight of AAAs, rather than serving as a rubber stamp. Older Pennsylvanians should not be left vulnerable due to bureaucratic inaction and inadequate oversight.
