Soon, I will be introducing legislation regarding the branding of Pennsylvania Rye Whiskey.
 
By way of background, Monongahela Rye Whiskey is one of Pennsylvania’s oldest and most famous liquors, going back to the historic Whiskey Rebellion up to Prohibition. Recently, this unique liquor has been making a comeback thanks to our in-state distilleries.
 
It has recently come to my attention that out-of-state manufacturers have been labeling products as Monongahela Rye Whiskey, without using our unique Pennsylvania ingredients.
 
My legislation will prevent for marketing or for sale Monongahela Rye Whiskey, unless the liquor is distilled in this Commonwealth and other specific requirements.
