I will soon introduce a resolution designating July 4, 2026, as “Knoebels Amusement Resort Day” in Pennsylvania, in celebration of the park’s 100th anniversary of operation.

Knoebels Amusement Resort, located in Elysburg, Pennsylvania, is a family-owned and operated amusement park and campground that has become a beloved destination for generations. What began as a swimming hole and picnic grove in the early 1900s officially opened as an amusement park on July 4, 1926, with the debut of the Crystal Pool. Today, Knoebels spans 150 acres and features 64 attractions, including roller coasters, water rides, and classic amusements that continue to create lasting memories for visitors of all ages.

Knoebels is recognized as America’s largest free-admission amusement park, offering free parking, free entertainment, and free picnic facilities, allowing guests to choose how they spend their hard-earned money through the park’s pay-per-ride system. Beyond its attractions, Knoebels represents the very best of the Commonwealth—rich history, scenic landscapes, iconic foods, and cherished cultural traditions.

Despite challenges, including the Flood of 1972, Knoebels has persevered thanks to dedicated staff and loyal community support. Celebrating 100 years this July, Knoebels continues to be a shining example of Pennsylvania’s heritage and hospitality.

This resolution honors Knoebels’ remarkable journey from humble beginnings to becoming America’s largest free-admission amusement park.

Please consider joining me in co-sponsoring this resolution celebrating 100 years of Knoebels Amusement Resort by designating July 4, 2026, as “Knoebels Amusement Resort Day” in Pennsylvania.
