Over 1.8 million Pennsylvania residents have student loan debt, and the average borrower owes more than $36,000. While programs exist to alleviate these burdens, they are often underutilized, as only 18% of eligible borrows apply for federal student loan forgiveness.
 
In order to ensure that eligible Pennsylvanians have every opportunity to utilize this financial relief, I will be introducing legislation to promote awareness of the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness program (PSLF) by requiring governmental employers to inform their staff about the program.
 
A majority of people in the United States support PSLF on some level. It is time we ensure that dedicated public servants reap the benefits they have earned. Please join me in support of this legislation to support government workers across Pennsylvania.
