Dear Members,

I will soon introduce a resolution designating March 25, 2026, as “Prince Hall Mason Day at the Capitol” in Pennsylvania in recognition of The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania and its longstanding contributions to this Commonwealth.

Prince Hall Freemasonry traces its origins to 1775 and has played a foundational role in the development of African American civic, educational and religious institutions. In Pennsylvania, its legacy dates back to 1797 with the establishment of African Lodge No. 459 in Philadelphia. For more than two centuries, Prince Hall Masons have demonstrated leadership through service, philanthropy, mentorship and civic engagement across communities throughout the Commonwealth.

Members of the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania include generations of educators, veterans, jurists and civic leaders whose contributions have helped shape our state. Their history is deeply intertwined with some of Pennsylvania’s most significant institutions and leaders, including Richard Allen, Rev. Absalom Jones, Octavius V. Catto and Judge Raymond Pace Alexander.

This resolution will recognize the organization’s historic and ongoing impact and welcome Prince Hall Masons from across Pennsylvania to the Capitol to engage with lawmakers and highlight their continued commitment to community service and leadership.

Please join me in recognizing this important legacy by co-sponsoring this resolution.
