Pennsylvania helps lead our nation in farming, producing food, fiber, and material that feed, clothe, and shelter folks across our country; supporting over 600,000 jobs; and contributing over $132B annually to our commonwealth. Building on that strength, Pennsylvania’s Agriculture Innovation Fund, established in 2024, helps farmers and agribusinesses continue to prosper by adopting the latest technology, best management practices, and sustainable innovations to benefit both the environment and their bottom line.

Pennsylvania is uniquely positioned to continue to lead into the future, with the highest number of farmers under the age of 35 in the nation. To keep agriculture growing, we must ensure that Pennsylvania farmers and agribusinesses have the tools and capital they need to adapt to rising costs, changing markets, and climate pressures. PA farmers have a long and proud legacy of innovation, and this matching grant program is helping more of them stay strong, competitive, and on the land. However, the available funding thus far has fallen far short of demand, with less than 15% of qualified applications being funded.

Our legislation increases funding for the Agriculture Innovation Fund to meet growing demand and build on a proven, successful program that is already working. Investing in agricultural innovation strengthens local economies, supports family-owned farms and businesses, improves food security, and delivers a strong return for taxpayers.
