In the near future, we will be introducing a resolution to recognize September 25, 2026, as “Chuseok” in Pennsylvania.

The holiday season is the perfect time to reflect and learn about the traditions celebrated by different cultures. Chuseok, or more commonly known as “Korean Thanksgiving,” celebrates a successful harvest and honors loved ones who have passed away emphasizing the importance of family.

Traditions include setting a table with traditional foods, newly harvested rice and fruit, and connecting with family through dancing, storytelling, and playing music. These are important traditions that strengthen family bonds and promote respect for their heritage.

Pennsylvania’s Korean community enriches our Commonwealth through its cultural heritage, small businesses, and contributions to our economy and communities. Recognizing Chuseok gives us the opportunity to honor Korean culture and to educate Pennsylvanians about the diverse celebrations that take place throughout the year.

I hope you will join us in co-sponsoring this resolution.
