In the near future, I will be introducing legislation to prohibit caps or other limitations on enrollment for charter schools and cyber charter schools. Enrollment caps are currently permitted if they are agreed to by the charter or cyber charter school. However, charter and cyber charter schools have on occasion been strong-armed into “agreeing” to enrollment caps as a condition of their charter being renewed. As public schools, charter and cyber charter schools should not have to be limited in the number of students that they can accept. Charter and cyber charter schools are a valid public education option for Pennsylvanian families to choose; their choice should not be limited because a particular school’s enrollment size is arbitrarily limited.

Please join me in sponsoring this important legislation.
