In the near future, we plan to introduce legislation to repeal the State Board of Higher Education.
Since its creation, the State Board of Higher Education has produced little measurable benefit. Its primary actions have been the hiring of senior staff at executive-level salaries, without corresponding improvements in outcomes for students or institutions. As a result, the Commonwealth is not receiving value for this structure, and taxpayers should not be asked to absorb the cost of ineffective governance.
The General Assembly has advanced policies that make higher education more affordable and accessible for Pennsylvania residents. The State Board of Higher Education neither advances these priorities nor justifies its continued existence.
