In the near future, we will introduce legislation to ease burdens on working families and communities across Pennsylvania by holding the billionaires and large corporations that have benefited from our system accountable to paying their fair share.

In America, the richest 1% of all households hold nearly a third of our country’s wealth, and income inequality has risen to heights unseen since World War II. For our Commonwealth, which ranks 14th in the nation for inequality and 4th for regressive state and local taxation, the consequences are dire: stagnant wages; restricted access to education, health care, and opportunities; and underinvestment in public services and infrastructure that force the gap between the wealthy and the rest of us wider every day.

The Trump administration’s trillion-dollar tax cuts to the richest 1% of Americans in 2025, financed by $930 billion in cuts to Medicaid services, underscore the urgent need for our Commonwealth to curtail spiraling inequality and support our residents in meeting their needs. In service of this, our bill will appropriately adjust the rate of taxation for income derived passively and from assets.

Pennsylvanians deserve access to health care, homes we can afford, high-quality schools, safe and efficient transportation infrastructure, and comprehensive services. We pay our fair share; we must hold billionaires and wealthy CEOs accountable to paying what they owe.

Please join us in co-sponsoring this legislation to generate billions in crucial annual state revenue and put the needs of working communities first.
