Arson is one of the most destructive and dangerous crimes that can be committed. These acts place countless individuals at risk and have tragically claimed far too many lives. Among the lives lost are the first responders whose duty is to protect the public and safeguard property during these incidents.

Pennsylvania law imposes significant penalties on individuals who commit arson, particularly when the crime results in the injury or death of a first responder actively engaged in firefighting. However, recent court decisions have weakened these protections and undermined justice for our first responders. In response, we are introducing a package of bills designed to strengthen accountability for arsonists and better protect our firefighters and emergency personnel.

Please join us in co-sponsoring this legislative package to safeguard those who put themselves in harm’s way for our communities.
