Pennsylvania continues to face a serious and often unseen consequence of military service in the loss of veterans to suicide. While the Commonwealth appropriately honors those killed in combat, families who lose a loved one to suicide are often not publicly recognized in the same way as other service-related losses. This gap affects families and communities and highlights the need for thoughtful recognition.

I am developing a legislative package with two complementary components. One proposal focuses on recognition through a House resolution by urging the designation of the Green Star Service Banner as a national emblem. The second provides authorization for the voluntary display of the Green Star Service Banner on Commonwealth property. Together, these measures provide a respectful framework for this long-overdue recognition.
