Pennsylvania is currently experiencing a shortage of safe, affordable housing, which stands in the way of attracting new residents, businesses, and opportunities. Now more than ever, we must make it clear to the residents of this great state and all those seeking new lives and opportunities alongside us that we are focused on assisting first time home buyers, cutting rising housing costs,  and ending homelessness in the Commonwealth.

To emphasize our priorities, I will be introducing legislation to rename the Department of Community and Economic Development to the Department of Housing and Community Development.

Our economy cannot succeed unless we give our full support to communities by fostering a strong sense of social cohesion, investing in infrastructure like transportation, communication, and utilities, improving opportunities for education and training, and planning for sustainability and resilience.

I look forward to your support for taking this step to make our priorities clear as we work together to build a better, brighter, more prosperous future for all Pennsylvanians.
