School administrators, such as principals and vice principals, play a vital role in promoting the success of students. These individuals are responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating school systems and policies to ensure the success of all students. Principals and vice principals working in the School District of Philadelphia have been authorized to organize since 1996.

The Pittsburgh Public School system is the largest public school system in Allegheny County and the second largest school district in Pennsylvania. However, these school administrators do not have the ability to collectively bargain for improved workplace conditions.

We plan to re-introduce legislation that will add Pittsburgh Public Schools to the list of school districts whose administrators are authorized to organize under the Administrative Code.
This bill was Senate Bill 720 last session and was previously co-sponsored by Senators Saval, Kearney, Comitta, Hughes, Costa, Fontana, Cappelletti, Kane and Muth.
Please join us in co-sponsoring this legislation so that principals in our two largest school districts have the same right to organize.
