Some pesticides used in Pennsylvania contain PFAS, often called “forever chemicals” because they do not break down in the environment. Once they are released, they stay in our soil and water for years.
When PFAS are sprayed on crops, they do not just disappear. They end up on the food we eat and in the water we drink, and over time they build up in our bodies. These chemicals have been linked to serious health problems, including higher cholesterol, pregnancy complications, and certain cancers.
That is not something families should have to worry about. People deserve to know that the food on their table and the water from their tap are safe.
That is why we are introducing legislation to ban pesticides that contain PFAS in Pennsylvania. When a pesticide contains forever chemicals that harm public health and have safer alternatives, common sense says we should not allow it.
Pennsylvanians deserve clean food, clean water, and a government that answers to families, not powerful corporate interests. Please join us in cosponsoring this important bill.
