Pennsylvania’s housing shortage is driving up costs for both renters and homebuyers, limiting economic growth and making the financial goal of homeownership unaffordable for many. Thankfully, we can lower housing costs for all through streamlining approvals and cutting costly red tape.

The current process for approving housing plans is often lengthy, unpredictable, and expensive, discouraging the creation of new and affordable housing options. Our legislation will give municipalities the opportunity to simplify their approval process and create a system to efficiently approve pre-vetted housing plans (e.g. duplexes, townhouses, accessory dwelling units). Eliminating unnecessary red tape will significantly shorten approval timelines, reduce costs for buyers and renters, and allow for the delivery of needed housing stock across Pennsylvania.

We hope you will co-sponsor this legislation to make housing more affordable and build a stronger economic future for all Pennsylvanians.
