Too many communities in Pennsylvania—especially former industrial towns—have faced decades of job loss, declining populations, and crumbling housing. While some of these areas are now attracting big new employers, many still do not have enough homes to support the workers and families who want to move in.

To help meet this need, we will be introducing legislation to create the Residential Economic Development District (REDD) Grant Program. This program would offer state grants to local governments that are working with developers to build housing near job-creating projects. To qualify, communities must show they are committed to smart housing policies—like updating zoning, faster permitting processes, or preparing development-ready land. Grant money can be used for things like infrastructure, public safety needs, or making housing more affordable.

This bill helps make sure that when we bring jobs to a region, we also bring the housing needed to support workers and their families. It’s about growing together—so that Pennsylvania communities can not only recover, but thrive.
We hope you will join us in co-sponsoring this forward-thinking legislation to revitalize our communities and restore the dream of home ownership for Pennsylvanians.
