In the near future, I will be introducing legislation to create the Child Adoption Tax Credit, designed to reduce the financial barriers that too often prevent loving families from adopting children in need of permanent, stable homes.
Every year, thousands of children across Pennsylvania and the United States wait for adoptive families. Yet even when a family is ready to open their hearts and homes the cost of adoption can be prohibitive. These expenses may include agency fees, legal costs, travel, home studies, and post-placement services. This legislation, which is the House version of Senator Pennycuick’s SB 1084, will provide a $1000 refundable tax credit to families who adopt children. By establishing a targeted state tax credit, we can help ease these burdens and support families who are willing to provide a forever-home to children who deserve safety, care, and stability.
I invite you to join me in supporting this compassionate and fiscally responsible effort to assist adoptive families and ensure that every child in Pennsylvania has the opportunity to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment.
Please consider co-sponsoring this legislation.
