Access to safe and reliable water and wastewater infrastructure is an essential service for all residents of the Commonwealth. Ongoing, substantial rate increases have placed a significant financial strain on our constituents. During this period of heightened economic pressure on household budgets, we have seen water and wastewater public utilities request unreasonably high rates from their residential customers.

I will soon introduce legislation that will directly address the exorbitant rise in water and wastewater utility prices and mitigate this financial burden on residential customers. This legislation establishes a cap on the amount these utilities can raise the price of this essential service, thereby safeguarding residents from unpredictable and significant spikes in cost.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this critical, common-sense legislation. Together, we can ensure Commonwealth residents will have access to essential water and wastewater services at more reasonable and sustainable prices.
