School counselors play an essential role in students’ lives, ensuring they have the tools, resources, and support needed to thrive both in school and in their future pursuits. Yet despite the significance of their work, counselors are frequently pulled away from their core responsibilities to “wear multiple hats,” covering classrooms or filling other gaps as needed.

My legislation would establish the School Counseling Services Act, ensuring the planning and coordination necessary for counselors to fully use their training and expertise. The proposal reflects extensive feedback from stakeholders over the past two legislative sessions.

School counselors have made an immeasurable impact on countless students, and we must do everything we can to retain these dedicated professionals while building strong pathways for future counselors.

I invite you to join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to strengthen school counseling services across the Commonwealth.
