In the near future I intend to introduce legislation that will allow Pennsylvania businesses to cure simple paperwork violations.

With all of the regulations placed on businesses in our Commonwealth, there are many different things that a business can be in violation of.  While some violations are serious and the fines imposed are necessary, many violations are simple paperwork violations which could be cured by the employer on their own and do not necessarily warrant a fine from the state.

My legislation will allow employers to do a self-auditing process to look for simple paperwork violations that were not willful, did not result in any injuries to employees, and was not related to any falsification of records. Further, my legislation will allow employers who find a paperwork violation to cure the violation and submit the information to the Department of Labor and Industry. Once the violation is cured, the Department will be prohibited from administering administrative penalties to the business for a first-time violation.
