In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would authorize a permanent display of a Braille Flag in the East Wing of the Pennsylvania State Capitol Complex.

The intent of this permanent Braille Flag is to honor and recognize the service, sacrifice and dedication of our nation’s veterans. It would stand as a lasting tribute to all who have defended our Flag, our freedom, and would ensure their courage is remembered by every generation.

This idea was brought to me by a constituent who resides in the 13th Senatorial District and is a member of the Lancaster Moose Lodge.

The Braille Flag itself would be sponsored by the Moose Lodge and the American Braille Flag Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to the placement of these flags throughout the country. In June 2024, this organization dedicated a braille flag to the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Somerset County.

The monument is proposed to be constructed in the East Wing of the Capitol Complex. The Department of General Services (DGS) staff have been engaged in the process and are working collaboratively with us on the proposal.

Please consider co-sponsoring this legislation to help bring awareness to the public and to further honor our heroes and their families.
