In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation to create the Jazz Foundation of America license plate for passenger cars, trucks , trailers, motorcycles and motor homes.
The Jazz Foundation of America provides compassionate emergency assistance for jazz, blues, and roots musicians in need and creates dignified work opportunities for them through performance and other programs. The foundation achieves this by offering services such as financial and housing support, pro bono medical care, and by facilitating paid performances in schools and other venues.
Pennsylvania has a rich history of jazz and blues music, with cities throughout the Commonwealth serving as vibrant hubs for their development. The Jazz Foundation of America helps to ensure the continued development of jazz and blues music in
Pennsylvania and other states across the country for current and future generations. In the Commonwealth alone, the foundation has more than 100 musicians on its roster of clients and partners with various community-based organizations to keep the legacies of these musical art forms alive.
However, the efforts of the Jazz Foundation of America are heavily dependent on monetary donations, grants, and fundraising events. The creation of a Jazz Foundation of America license plate will enable additional resources to be generated for the foundation to support the development of jazz and blues music in Pennsylvania and enable Pennsylvanians to express their support for jazz and blues music.
I hope you will join me in sponsoring this important legislation. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact my office.
